What qualifies a person to be a first time home buyer? In most cases, you qualify for grants, special loans, etc. if you have not owned a home for 3 years. So, even if you have owned a home before, you may still qualify for programs designed for first time home buyers. What are some of those programs? City of Columbia Housing Assistance Grants
MHDC provides either down payment or closing cost assistance up to 3% of your loan. The City provides up to a $5,000 grant to purchases made within the city limits to individuals who qualify.
